R A C E O F L I G H T S is a music-based project that explores themes of a child’s mind.
As a child, I was solitary and buried deep in my own head. I would often explore forests and woodlands alone for hours on end; mysterious rural sanctuaries that became my personal realms of play. As an adult I look back and I am intrigued as to how feral my imagination was, to the point in which reality and fantasy had hardly a barrier. I believe this is the same for most children, and their psychology became a subject of massive inspiration.
The term ‘Race of Lights’ evokes the true essence of children; innocence, purity, untamed and untarnished brilliance, the more idealistic and raw state of human.
The music of Race of Lights is structured as a concept album. It presents the story of a child from the moment of birth to the moment of adulthood, told through the child’s imagination as a conceptual and metaphorical sonic odyssey. The album and visual language is warped in dark rural fantasy and dreamlike states of adventure, curiosity and play.
