Rampaging Rhinoceros

  • Rachel Salenius
Myself and a colleague made two rhino puppets for a production of Noye's Fludd at Wimbledon Music Festival. We sculpted 1/2 a head, body and leg in clay, took a pattern from them and flipped it to produce a mirrored image (so the other half of the head and body). The pattern was then blown up on an OHP and the pieces cut out in Plastazote. It was all then re-assembled like a big jigsaw puzzle using contact adhesive. The rhinos were scrimmed using power net and latex. They had moving ears and necks.

They are now being used for a small scale fringe production for Puppets With Guts.
