The problem
Food waste volumes in the EU reach 180 kg per capita annually.
The opportunity
When I attended, with a team of friends, to a sustainability themed hackathon in Vicenza, Italy, we decided to implement a solution that could foster users to be more conscious about the waste of food that everyone produces on a daily basis. Ratatouille is an app for iOS: a geolocated virtual fridge that allows users to share with neighbours their extra food.
The achievements
Since its publication on the App Store - May 2014 - Ratatouille has raised interest of Italian
and international press, such as Monocle, The Washington Post, Adweek and Wired Italy.
