Regenerate was a digital exhibition showcasing the Barbican's Young Visual Arts Group. As a member of the group, I both produced work to present in the exhibition and worked on curating and producing the exhibition itself.
Meeting online between November 2020 and May 2021, we collectively developed a concept centred around regeneration which we felt would respond to themes we were all interested in including, nurturing, exploration and identity.
The work I presented, whitenoisespace (embedded below)is a moving image piece exploring our relationship to liminal actions and spaces, drawing on influences including Derek Jarman, Samuel Beckett and Robert Smithson to interrogate the value of non-sites and non-actions in the present.
Alongside making a piece to present, I also wrote the exhibition's catalogue essay, developing the ideas we had been discussing as a group and tying a number of the artists' practice into wider ideas and theories.
Whilst producing the exhibition, I led on comms and PR, arranging copy and graphics for a number of promotional publications to be distributed within the Barbican Centre alongside drafting the press release and compiling a press pack and list of artist bios.
