Support in all ways the preparation, realisation and reporting in the lead up too, during and in the post event period after the Olympic and Paralympic Games:
Identifying and recruiting personnel - This included pivotal roles such as Venue Producers and their Associates but also the auditioning and allocating Field Talent (on camera MC’s) Announcers (English, Portuguese and French), Producing teams, Floor Management, Researchers and Coordinators.
Workforce Scheduling – contracting and scheduling all Games Time staff across multiple scheduling platforms including maximum working hours and days, designated meal and break times and logistical information.
Travel, Accommodation and Ground Transport – ensuring all members were satisfactorily covered for all trips to and from venues and all other required destinations whilst working on the Games.
Distributing Information - working closely with many other Functional Areas within Rio 2016 to successfully understand and translate logistical information into the Sport Presentation portfolio including Sport Competition, Results, Victory Ceremonies, Protocol, Official Translation, Event and Venue Services, Venue Management, Venue Technology and Entertainment.
During the competition time, my role changed slightly: Working as the Second in Charge or Deputy, the Venue Producer and I lead a team of a minimum of 20 positions at venue to deliver exceptional and world class Sports Presentation. Whilst the position of 20 roles remained fixed, these roles were filled by multiple people, contractors and sub hired staff as the days and sessions rolled over normal designated work hours. Morning teams would be replaced by afternoon teams and in turn evening teams; and the role required detailed and expert briefings and transfer of knowledge as the events and the delivery of them evolved into a highly refined and rehearsed performance. The delivery of all of the performance elements included – Vision, Audio, Music, Comms, Talent, Sport Competition
The role was left to me for large sections of the competition to run whilst my Producer resolved issues offline. During this time, I was completely entrusted to show call to a live audience of 10,000+ and a viewing audience of millions - to run all of the Sports Presentation elements during his absence from the control room. Conversely, I was completely enabled to resolve critical issues on the Venue Producers behalf whilst he remained in the control room.
