A careers site that updates as quickly as your wardrobe.

The challenge

River Island has won countless awards for their innovative use of technology, whether in e-comms or in store. But whilst they’re leading the way in retail, their online careers portal was lagging behind. Our challenge was to develop a careers site that wouldn’t just win awards for pushing the boundaries, but would set a new standard in the industry and even beyond.

The solution

First things first, we created a tone of voice that reflected both the brand candidates know and the ambition they didn’t. Seasonal design updates mean that just like in their stores, there’s always something fresh and new on the careers site. Edge-to-content and compatibility on all devices allows busy candidates to apply on the go. And plenty of rich media including self-selectors and the industry’s first HTML 360 tour brings the culture and environment of the brand to 3D life.

The results

In the two weeks following launch, River Island recorded a 21% increase in submitted applications. From 1st January 2016 to 24th April 2016, (approximately one year following launch and directly following the seasonal update) 226,824 unique visitors were recorded, with an average bounce rate of 25% and 2.2 minutes average page view.
