RSA: Beyond Borders

  • Emma Powney
Brief
Create a campaign, service, product or environment designed to promote intercultural understanding – promoting engagement with people of diverse backgrounds in ways that recognise differences, create connections and cultivate respect.
My Response
Instead of highlighting our diverse beliefs or cultural differences and making this more of a talked about issue, let’s focus on what a community can achieve when turning their own street into a more safer and pleasant place to live.
This app allows members of your community to walk around your town and drop an icon on the map where they believe is an issue. Working with the council and your community, you will fix the issue raised, therefore, developing your relationships with people you wouldn’t necessarily talk to otherwise. Overall, working towards something which is turning a negative into a positive, which many people agree on. Diverting away from what people disagree on, with their values, beliefs and backgrounds.
