Rural Coastlines

  • Samara Elms

This vibrant and bold project was inspired by rural coastlines. I explored parts of the coast that were particularly vulnerable to harsh weather and erosion. I visually researched the textures, found objects and washed up debris along the seafronts and translated these into the pieces you see here. The hand process was very prominent in this project through the textures I was creating and painting directly onto fabric, as well as the fluidity of the shapes in general.
