S K U L P T U R V ( ) I D is the creation of conceptual, sculptural but ultimately wearable pieces for Womenswear. This project started out as a continuation of my Honours year collection but has taken a completely new and exciting direction which is inspired by abstract sculptural forms by the sculptors Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore.

The collections silhouettes are inspired by the offset forms and details in Hepworths sculpture. Soft draped silk and jersey dresses against more structural wool outerwear pieces. Fluid asymmetry runs through garments from silhouette to detail.

I have experimented with Japanese pattern cutting techniques to create ‘voids’ within the fabric to reflect the apertures and gauged out cavities as seen in Hepworth and Moore’s work. Alongside voids I have created growths on the fabric’s surface creating shapes that are inspired by the sculpture forms offset curved shapes that gives the garments subtle surface details.
