The task of the project was to choose a collection of a fashion designer and then create a "Show Piece" and two-three other additional pieces inspired by the collection. I chose the Spring/Summer 2013 collection by "Atelier Azza", a Boutique and brand established by the Indian Designer Azeeza Khan based in Chicago. Her works show themselves throughout opulent embroideries. Azeeza's collections, in fact, are inspired by traditional Indian costumes even though the young designer tries to interpret the tradition in a new way with unusual materials. I took up her working method and applied it to my head-jewelry, which is inspired by typical Indian head-jewelry called "Maang Teeka". Usually this head-piece is worn by Indian Women during celebrations and festivities. In my project, Plexiglas and gold leaf were used instead of gold and valuable stones and yet the collection showcases both, the formal and ceremonial atmosphere and the high optical quality.
