Save the Bees, Start Gardening

I was asked to create an article that fills two double page spreads, for a publication that focused on communicating a specific news back-story to a readership. Data visualisation and diagrammatic display needed to play a key role in explaining, clarifying complex matters to a reader. The visualisations needed to be integrated in an editorial design context. The second infographic on the second page is showing the level at which bees pollinate our food. Throughout the spread are hexagonal patterns representing the bee honeycomb. The purple colour I is very specific as it is the one colour of flower that registers and attracts bees. On the infographic on the last page I have used a sequence of opacities with this colour to show which flower has the stronger connection with bees.
