This project is a university third year project. We had been asked to design two diffrent scenes of the book The Bloody Chamber. The model making is base on the Harrogate Theatre in London witch has an audience capacity of 1000 people.
My main inspiration came from the movie «The compagny of wolf» that I watch at the begining.
I liked the essence that came out of the film. The oneiric images in the movie inspired me. The poesy you can find in the in the forest set really atracts me and that was the main direction I wanted to take.
The movie has two major themes :
1/ the passage from the childhood to the adult. (Angela Carter parable in a remarkabe way through the strories all that include that transition : sexuality, death, religion...)
2/ the esotericism really romantic, alway there, in Neil Jordan’s work.
It is really hard to put the story in a spatiotemporal frame.
I wanted to create a decor where the audience would use stereo 3D glasses.
