SCIENCE MUSEUM - Cosmonauts Exhibition

  • Tom Baxter
In September 2015 the Science Musuem opened their exhibition Cosmonauts: Birth of the Space Age, the greatest collection of Soviet spacecraft and artefacts ever to be seen outside Russia. Kit Grover was asked to curate a small range of bespoke merchandise to accompany the show.
This hand drawn silk scarf - taking it’s inspiration from Soviet propaganda textiles of the 1920s - was my homage to Laika, the first dog in space. It was presented at the opening of the exhibition to Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman and first civilian to travel into space.
