Sexual Symbolism

  • Megan Freeman

Focus primarily on the visual content inside the zine. Play and experiment with the concept of layering and scanning using different transparencies and layouts to represent the repression of the body during sex. Layering artists work and symbolic imagery, the zine will use personal, up-close, textured photography reflecting the intimacy within the act of sex. The editorial will then be placed within a plastic screen sown shut at the top. Its up to the reader to choose as to whether they want to liberate this sexual repression through ‘de-clothing the zine’, or not. The zine is meant to enlighten a response and connection within the reader - very personal and intimate like its content, and hopefully inspire them to communicate more openly about the topic of sex, instead of using symbolism to hide behind.
