Show Me The Monets

Christmas cards done right

PROBLEM

Roll back to 2015.
After scanning the card section from our local Clintons, we realised there’s got to be another way to send out a memorable agency Christmas card.
We wanted people to show off our card to others and proudly decorate their desks with it.

PROCESS

Russian-not-Russian was our first shoot and from then on the mission was to better each previous year’s card. We blew shit up with Miami Vice, put all our cards on the table with Risky Roaring 20’s and recently advised people on the dangers of sitting on the fence.
Always using a different location, we’ve kept it varied: shooting on set with Eleanor the 10ft Python, playing with Londons best taxidermy and setting fire to Molotov Cocktails. We’ve gone bigger and better every year.
As an internal project, we have to be mindful of budgets but that’s all part of the challenge. Prop searching, location scouting, wardrobe styling, photographer sourcing, animal taming – all produced internally.

SOLUTION

Last year (2018) was our most Risky shoot yet.
1 group shot and 6 individuals shots in one afternoon, on location at Street Studios, Dalston.
This year there were more props, more alcohol, more budgie smugglers and more naked flames than ever before!
The response has been fantastic and the shots are used in pitches, presentations, talks, social media etc, etc. All in the name of pimping Mellor&Smith.
