Sky Arts launched Master of Photography, the first European TV talent show for photographers in November 2015.
The competition has been created by the Sky Arts Production Hub, a commissioning and production centre of excellence dedicated to creating quality arts programmes for Sky’s 21 million customers across the UK and Ireland, Italy, Germany and Austria.
In the show, which featured special guests including international photographers and celebrities, a committee of photography and art experts selected a final line-up of 12 contestants, who competed for the title Master of Photography and the biggest prize ever offered in a European photography competition: €150,000. The prize included an exhibition at Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa in Venice and an international book about the show by Skira.
The judges of the first season were: Oliviero Toscani, Simon Frederick and Ruth Blees Luxemburg. The host was Isabella Rosselini.
Network: Sky Arte (Italy), Sky Arts (UK, Ireland) and Sky Arts HD (Germany, Austria).
