Smart Plant

  • Cameron Braithwaite
An energy meter which doubles as a plant pot. Giving users a real time display of their energy consumption. Whilst metaphorically suggesting how their usage benefits or kills the earth.
Therefore the product nurtures the plant depending on your energy consumption. If your usage is too high, the plant is starved of nutrients and water and will slowly die. If your usage is optimum and low, the plant will be provided everything it needs to thrive.

The psychology behind this is to evoke an emotional response from users in order to make them want to change their behaviour. By feeling directly responsible for the death of a living thing, due to their actions. They may feel obliged to change them.

Accompanied with an app, users are able to add users and through energy disaggregation technology, see who is most responsible for the plants wellbeing by adding electrical appliances to the users profiles.
