For 6 weeks in September 2016 I travelled to Cuba to conduct a project on political dissidents and governmental oppression. Over the course of the 6 weeks I met a range of incredible individuals who all had stories to tell about the political subjugation that takes place in their country. The project attracted attention from the Cuban authorities meaning thinking on my feet and reacting accordingly to considerable obstacles was an every day necessity.
The project taught me how to work under significant pressures and how important, and sometimes difficult, it is to be able to articulate a story in an increasingly hostile environment.
