The annual design competition hosted by D&AD, why not take a crack at it. I worked with a colleague and close freind for this piece of work, thankfully the friendship has survived the damanding hours. Producing a template that champions all creatives, their professionalism and induviduality was the task at hand. What we found to be missing from the world of templates however was something that could truly showcase each designers disciplne succinctly and adhere to their very differnt needs. A photographer will need to take a large chunk of space purely for imagery whereas a graphic designer may have the luxury to let their work be more reserved in terms of laout. Flux addresses this, allowing users to change their workspace. Intuitive layouts will streamline the space on your page to show only what is relevant to your particular design discipline. Up-voting is also a defining feature here. Being quite a widespread online trend already on sites such as Reddit and the app Yik-yak, it is a proven method, alowing visitors to your site see what is trending or better put, to see the best of the best first. This not only generates impact from the start, but ensures peace of mind, knowing what work is well recieved and what work might be bringing your portfolio down. Sadly, an award alluded us this year, but we shall be back.
