States of Mind (Photography)

  • Tanausu Herrera

On these series, Tanausu uses a metaphor for the nature of the ever-changing mind as that of various textures and forms, always moving, every thought and state of mind wants to be believed as true but how can it be when it is no a constant but always shifting? How can we consider any mind state as more real than other when none is permanent, whether the mind resembles a calm sea or a pile of heavy oxidised chains, the mind keeps doing what it does best, to create the illusion of a certain solidity and reality when in fact it's all illusory. To go beyond the mind is to access a realm where no images are generated, to see a pure nothingness where everything arises from.
