Street Pianos

  • Mark Brereton
I was invited by Arts organisation Appetite to collaborate with their international Street Pianos Project. I decided to create an illustrative hand drawn artwork to decorate the piano that was situated in Stoke. I chose the colours blue and white as the piano was to be located in town between 2 well known ceramic factories, and world renowned for their blue and white ceramic ware – Spode and Portmeirion.

The theme and title of the work was called – Creative Growth, this was and is an ongoing theme of mine and explores creativity in urban and regeneration city spaces.

The piano was well received and it surprised me in the amount of people visiting and playing the piano. Fun and music on the street.
