Sultana

The brief required us to make a game show - including designing the games and all - based on an architectural style- for which I chose Indian Architecture. Intensive moodboards and research through the history of the architecture dating as early as 8th century followed. It all culminated in an obstacle course complete with games like Gilli-danda, Ganjifa and a maze round based loosely off of the Chakravyuha battle formation from the Mahabharata epic. Each level is separated by big "Haveli" doors (large doors that were commonplace in Indian royal architecture) and the audience of the show get to enjoy this in a very "Darbari" layout (which is how kings and queens would enjoy sports). I designed the game this particular game keeping in mind Razia Sultana - I remember learning about her when I was 12 and being inspired on learning that women can be empress regents if they put their mind to it. A female empress was called "Sultana"- a queen. Each "episode" of the show was intended to shed the spotlight on one great woman from history and the obstacles for that episode would be based on her story.
