Synaesthesia Tastes Like Snot - Final Major Project

  • Aidan Cooke

This project focused on the topic of synaesthesia, a neurological condition where an individual experiences cross-modal interactions between the senses. This study in-particularly targeted three individual types of synaesthesia, these including Lexical Gustatory, Chromesthesia and Grapheme Colour. The installation expressed the experiences of those whom have Lexical Gustatory, this being where a person tastes words and sounds. In this instance, icons were used to identify tastes associated with each letter of the alphabet. This was accompanied with a publication, visually expressing the other two types of synaesthesia researched, and informing the audience on what this condition is about.
