Tea Kettle Collector

  • Maura Cavanaugh
In this conceptual residential project was designed for Eoin O'Hara, a professional antique dealer who collects Medieval copper tea kettles. His small, Shoreditch apartment is meant to provide enough space for Harris to live and display his collection comfortably. The main idea of this design is to create cozy spaces within the apartment where one can enjoy tea while also enjoying the view. To achieve this I lowered the ceiling and raised the floor in certain areas. The centralised platform in my design contains all the necessary service areas. One can easily access tea from the storage wall, prepare it in the kitchen, and conveniently slide it across the counter to the drinking area. As all the service areas are situated on the central platform, this creates a corridor around the perimeter of the apartment. This space is reserved for the display of the tea kettles and storage of tea.
