THANTA SIMI

  • Carlos Medrano Maldonado
THANTA SIMI are words in Quechua, the ancient Inca´s language, and both toguether mean “old language”. For along time it was established that the Incas didn´t have a writing system, but this thought is changing right now, and it is posible because recent studies are revealing that the Tocapus; square motifs present in Inca´s textiles, and ceramic and metal goods; may have the key to decode the forgotten and lost Inca writing. The Tocapus were the inspiration for this furniture, and in this way Thanta Simi aims to bring them back to our daily basis, and giving them the importance they deserve.
