The beauty of cultures

The Islamic tradition inspires a cocoon collection

While living in NYC I experimented what being in a multicultural environment means. All the different nationalities gave me so many visual inspirations that I decided to start to built a collection from that.
I choose the Muslim culture and I focused on some of its main traditional symbols, the hijab and the burqa, and thought about their contemporary translation to realize a cocoon collection for an alternative and unconventional young costumer. Minimal and versatile, the collection is full of layering monochromatic outfits, to give that sense of both protection and quirky mystery.
I choose to enhance the outfits by using furry fabrics and maxi embroideries, to create a contrasting collection swinging between streetstyle and minimal elegance.
