Establish a new identity and layout for an iPad magazine

Background
A publishing house wants to start up a quarterly online magazine targeted towards the creative industry. The magazine aims to be the definitive resource for people seeking news, interviews and reviews on all things creative. The magazine is targeted to the taskmakers and trendsetters of creative communities worldwide who enjoy reading magazines and learning from them!

Concept
Being the "definitive guide" that it is inspired me to name the magazine "The Book". It is a strong, confident name that has bold connotations. The target demographic are a very stylish, talented bunch with an eye for detail so I wanted the magazine to feel sophisticated but fresh. For the masthead I pushed the idea of talent to "flair" and the idea of a beautiful simple ligature. For the articles, I combined a classically elegant typeface with something a little punchier and then brought out the bright hues in the images. The document was created to include a slideshow gallery, scrolling text and even a button! Awesome!
