Log II.
“ There was a little disturbance earlier this morning. I was fast asleep in a shelter I have made for a short stay, and I heard a noise in the nearby bushes. I looked over, and there was no living soul I could detect. It must have been wind, and I fell asleep again. The sky was dimly lit, but I was getting warmer, and I set off to find a source of water. There I found, as I passed the bush that woke me, a tree branch that has been cut off. It did not look l like it fell from the trees around here. There were no branches that were joined on the stick, although I could see where they had been. It had a strange scent…of a being, smell of a creature that I cannot recognise. Feeling eery, I walked off of it, then I started to run. It wasn’t fear, but a sort of excitement. I ran through the woods and reached the water. Smells safe enough to drink. Sun had come out of the clouds, and now everything glows in their colours. There I saw a reflection of myself in the water, and as sun shone on water, little flicks appeared, like stars in the night sky. ”
