The Cheese Iron

Every summer the National Theatre catering team commissions the graphic design studio to rebrand the food pop ups on the south bank, giving us permission to create something eye catching and ‘dare we say theatrical’. One of them was The Cheese Iron, a cheese toasties trailer.
The holes in the Swiss cheese and Yayoi Kusama art inspired me to create an all over polka dots pattern, that I balanced with a tough-looking stencil typeface. I also came up with the idea to replace the A-board by a giant cheese wedge, and to get the peg board menu boards cut in the shape of toasts.
