The Churches Conservation Trust

I was commissioned to to design the visual elements for a pitch to the Heritage Lottery Fund for phase 2 funding for the development of the Canny Space Holy Trinity Church in Sunderland being undertaken by the Churches Conservation Trust.

I brought on a second designer Rob Pearce to assist with the development of the visuals following the successful delivery of artwork for the project in Kings Lynn.

The illustration 'The North Prospect of the town of Sunderland in the Bishoprick of Durham' was originally created by Samuel Buck in the 18th century. A cut out from this image had been used previously to promote an event celebrating the heritage of the Holy Trinity Church and it was deemed appropriate for the presentation that this image should be adapted to provide a more modern feel to the image to create a sense of continuity with the ongoing restoration of the site.

To achieve this I used a variety of custom textures, lighting filters and photography to colour the image. I then layered some illustrations created by myself which matched the look and feel of the original illustration while bringing the architecture of the church up to date.
