Personal project based on the film The Colour of Pomegrantates (1969). The film is a super-stylized, surreal biography of Armenian troubadour Sayat Nova, whose life is depicted through a series of Tableau vivants; brief moments of non-narrative amalgamations of poetic images.
I re-imagined iconic portraits from the film, focussing on capturing the feelings and atmospheres within the scenes.
I took visual inspiration from Armenian native dress and Architecture. My images were created with fineliners and indian inks. Colour was added digitally to give a sense of light and warmth.
