The Converse - All Wah

The Converse All Wah – Hacking the world’s favourite sneaker into a wearable wah wah pedal

When an invite for the Converse Hack-a-chuck competition arrived, there was no question as to whether we were going to get involved. Run in conjunction with Google and Creative Social, the brief was simple: Converse would send you a pair of Chuck Taylor All Stars, the world’s most popular sneaker and you could do anything you liked to them.

We had a raft of ideas, but it the end, settled on turning one into a fully functioning wah wah pedal. I liked this for three main reasons – it was neat. It was right on brand for converse. And I’d already thought up a natty name for the finish item – The Chet Atkins All Wah.

It took a surprisingly large amount of hard work to produce the final working sneaker. But perseverance paid off and we were very pleased to be
announced overall winners of the competition at the Cannes Lions festival.
