The Hemlines of skirts has always been a hot topic in the industry, and have even acted as a barometer of economic health in wider society - coming down to knee-skimming lengths in the war-torn forties or going up to dizzying heights in the free-loving sixties, but lately the focus has shifted onto the humble pant. Culottes to be precise, that awkward in-betweeny length tailored bottom, that is neither short nor trouser, has been revived and thrust back into the spotlight by Daniel Lees star turn as Creative Director at Bottega Veneta. The culottes in butter-soft leather was the silhouette du jour on the SS20 Copenhagen Fashion Week streets, and is making up the summer selections of key influencers wardrobes.
