The Great Outdoors

  • Emily Wright

In this project I explored the idea of the outdoors as a fantasy, with “the Great Outdoors” being a means of escapism and adventure, as well using as my personal nostalgia towards being in nature. I created a collection of samples that captured these elements of escapism through an Avant-Guard aesthetic and a mix of luxury and experimental yarns. I took colour inspiration for my own painting and design development from landscape artist David Hockey as well as Josef Albers, to create a vibrant and cohesive colour palette.
