The first represented here by a woman.
Throughout the book the character is debating between its natural side, which she will mutilate in so far as it seizes her human essence, and the latter, which makes her sick when the natural side of mankind disappears. This goes on, until finally the balance between the two wins, not without having gone through several phases: tree, bird and flower. In the last one she simply lets herself to wither.
