D&AD New Blood Entry: The Jungle Calais - Amnesty International

  • Kieran James
Attitudes towards Refugees in Britain are some of the most negative in Europe. The media de-humanises refugees through choice of language.
Snapchat is the perfect platform for young people to make meaningful connections, as enables active engagement through images and videos.
My campaign came from my experience of traveling to The Jungle camp in Calais meeting real people just like us, but who have had to flee their home country in order to survive. The people were so welcoming, generous and selfless, when they have so little.
This really stuck a chord with me knowing how my country is treating them. This inspired me to create my campaign to encourage more political and social engagement from young people using a platform that they are familiar with.
