The Just So Festival is an annual family camping weekend where art, literature, music and theatre is entwined in wonderous natural landscape. I am responsible for coordinating volunteers at each event, from the point of recruitment through to when they leave site. I allocate them into teams and roles which mirror their interests, capabilities and availability. From this I create information packs for each volunteer: giving them a detailed insight into their role, information about the event they’re volunteering at and introducing them to other members of their team. I also manage volunteer communications. This can be anything from responding to volunteer queries to creating detailed information packs for each event. Most importantly this aspect of my role is about building and sustaining relationships with volunteers, through emails, phone calls, social media and onsite to ensure that they have an enjoyable and stimulating experience of volunteering with us and will feel inclined to volunteer again. I assist with the management of volunteers on-site for events. Alongside this I manage databases for the event, perform admin duties and create and manage the Guest List.
