The Leman Album

V&A Research Institute (VARI) project. Interdisciplinary team of curators and conservators are researching 97 vibrant 18th-century drawings on paper by James Leman of Spitalfields. Europe's earliest dated silk designs, they are too fragile to be put on permanent display. The team is piloting a digital version of the designs, which also reconstructs Leman's visual sources and recovers the relationship between the designs and the textiles woven from them.
