The life of pi in design

Initially being set a mathematical question then stemmed to fabricate a type of optical illusion. The task was to work out the length of the circumference of a circle only using the resources provided. These included two lines, a square, a circle and two dots.

My method of madness is as follows, The circle is placed in the square as this provides an accurate measurement of the rotation and thus allows us to work out the circumference of the circle on the line. The square is then rotated around until every side of the circle has been on the line of which this can then be marked out with another dot. In order to work out the centre points of the circle you then use the dotted lines provided and the corners of the square to mark the centre.

This allows you to work out accurately the radius and the diameter. I then proceeded to visualise this working out in a graphical manner.
