'The Lounge' by AFRICA BY DESIGN

In partnership with Afreximbank, Africa By Design (ABD) is delighted to be curating the visitors' lounge at this year's inaugural 'Intra Africa Trade Fair', Cairo, Egypt. Organised by Afreximbank, in partnership with the African Union (AU) and hosted by the Egypt Development Authority (EDA), the Intra Africa Trade Fair is envisioned to stimulate sustainable economic growth through the development and diversification of regional trade in Africa. Over the course of the six day event, 'The Lounge' by Africa By Design, will offer an inspired breakout area for guests to sit, relax or host informal meetings. 'The Lounge' will feature the works of ABDesigners: AMWA Designs, Ghana Inoussa Dao, Burkina Faso Jean Servais Somian, Cote d'Ivoire nmbello Studio, Nigeria Nulangee, Senegal Studio Lani, Nigeria Tekura, Ghana From the organically sculptural furniture of Jean Servais Somian, to the conceptually curious, hand crafted pieces of Studio Lani and the Adinkra inspired works of AMWA Designs; the designers collectively share overlaps of cultural themes and narratives, but they each demonstrate their unique voice. Their works in many instances will challenge assumptions of African design and may be of surprise for their modernity. Africa By Design believes design is a vehicle for social development, mobilisation and business. Design has the power to create a thriving industry with such talents at the forefront.
