The River That Runs Through Us

  • Dubheasa Lanipekun

Water fills the city of London. Connecting and dividing us. Constantly flowing through it, much like the people who call it home. From puddles, to the storm drains, to the river Thames, the life cycle of water in London affects both individuals and society. The project is an exploration of how Londoners interact with the city’s waterways. Looking at how we use, and more often abuse, those rare but special spaces of nature within the city. The photo series focuses on those who interact with the waterways. A young woman, who is a rower, attempts to master and tame the river Thames by rowing along it. Powered by her sheer determination to overcome the trials the river throws at her, it reflects the often-harsh realities city life may pose for people. Fighting to survive its choppy waters.
