The Thread Project

My proposed plan was to transform an old pub building into a cloth upcycling multipurpose workshop space, where people can remake and create new designs to their old and used clothes, on their own. The idea of upcycling and upgrading an existing garment will influence young people to avoid consumerism and become an inspiration for new and more sustainable ideas in the fashion design industry. Particularly, the initial idea was to create a space that it is attached to the Hackney Wick’s profile and enhances its creative character.
The geometry of the surrounding area and its elements contributed to the design of the space. Geometrical shapes in connection with the notion and the sign of upcycling lead me to the sacred geometry and the theorem of the golden section. The last constituted a key role in the division of plan’s layout.
