I produced an alternate book cover for Alexandre Dumas’ novel The Three Musketeers, which is in-keeping with the aesthetics of Dumas’ contemporaries. My hand drawn illustration shows a highly detailed sword adorned with a Musketeer mascot stood on the hilt. This is an appealing design for a contemporary audience as it evokes humour as the same Musketeer can be seen on the spine of the cover on his break enjoying a cup of wine – a la Oliver Reed.
