The Wakanda Workshop and Published Workshop Exercise

The purpose of this workshop is for people to contain a cinematic and academic look at Marvel’s Black Panther Film using spiritual, historical, and scientific materials to discuss sociological, economical, historical and political issues in contrast of the black experience and black people’s place in the United States, Globally and within their own community. The goal of this workshop is to have an open discussion about race, gender and the aftermath of colonialism, providing a significant understanding of the impact put on the black community versus the influence the community has outside of itself based on the three subjects in the workshop. The workshop will have four components that will consist of brief talks by guests, break out group sessions and town hall formatted open discussions. Throughout the workshop participants will dig deep into uncomfortable spaces and face truths about the African diaspora’s impact on the world.
