ELLE Magazine UK won a £130K grant from the Bill Gates foundation to spend a year concentratedly reporting on Women's rights globally. In January 2018 they launched The Warriors - a year long reporting project, travelling to at least 9 different countries globally, shadowing revolutionary young women and supporting them as they move the needle for women's equality in their countries.  Fighting for their rights, but often also for their freedom and their lives, they needed the graphic design aspect of this project to reflect the bold, impactful bravery of the women it focuses on. Elle UK also asked that the colour palette reflect the idea that we want to reclaim colours that are traditionally 'young' or 'feminine,' recasting them as strong and meaningful. 
For this project, Elle UK asked for a combination of static and motion graphics - a looping video marquee image for the landing page, plus a series of link-out jpegs and looping animation banners -  that would be eye catching, that would tie the whole project together and that would give strength to the women whose stories we are telling.
