The Wolf-Man
A new play inspired by Sergei Pankejeff, a patient of Sigmund Freud. Freud’s analysis of Pankejeff centered on a reoccurring dream. In the dream Pankejeff saw white wolves in a tree, he got the name Wolf Man from this dream. Freud stated that the Wolf Man illness, came from seeing the primal scene between his parents. The play disagrees with Freud’s theory and focuses on the abusive adolescent relationship of the Wolf Man and his sister as they come to terms with their sexuality and their roles in society, as the central cause for Wolf Man’s illness.
“The wolves were white…... In great terror, of being eaten, I screamed and woke up.” Sergei Pankejeff.
