The Wonders' Taste

  • Francesca Fattori
For the project’s title “The Wonders' Taste” I was inspired by a Renè Magritte picture named“ The Invisible’s Taste”.
I often take inspiration by the Surrealistic Art world and by the Metaphysics painters, which I really love.
The entire project is ment to evocate different feelings while watching it.
The pictures are created using ingredients which can be part of a real menu. divided in 4: starters, first courses, second courses and desserts.

The pictures’ construction is made upon 4 categories which are realted to my personal features and give the meaning to the images. These are sinuosity; extravagance;
limitation and fragility.

The only subject is Food treated like as it would be an object and not
an edible substance.
The pictures are still scenes from a play and removed from their fluid
natural sequence. I like to call them Methaphysical landscapes.

The first set is inspired by Sinuosity which we can find it in the lines and shapes of the different ingredients used in the pictures. The nuances are delicate and soft like the lines. The ingredients used are composed in order to recreate the feeling.
The second part is linked to Extravagance. This feature can be found in the
ingredients’ matches for example in the Lamb with blueberries…
For the third part the main feeling is Limitation; created by the composition itself between the different subjects.
In the last part, the Desserts, fragility is aroused by the manipulation of the different ingredients like the pink sugar structure or the cherry composition.
The Light used is very natural and delicate. I edited the images to make it look a little bit platic and static. The aim is to recreate a fantasy and Wonder’s world made up by natural objects.
