Thisiswork.org is an online time-based publishing laboratory centering on the contemporary working condition and its resulting consequences. The content and chapters of the publication are the result of a collaborative method, which took place both online and in four events during the exhibition entitled “This is work”, organized by Fictional Collective in collaboration with Depot Basel in Basel, Switzerland.
The structure explores the mechanisms of creative labour underlying cultural production and proposes a self-reflection on potential economic alternatives.
Posing itself as a documentation of different topics, interactions and voices, the publicaton works as a tool for dialogue and critique (commentary) of external contributors and public on the projects exhibited. In this context immaterial labour and networks constitute a space which allows the potential for new pathways to develop and opens up discourse around alternative methods of cultural stability.
