This New Feeling

As a recent graduate of BA (Hons) Criticism, Curation & Communication, I was part of a core team of 5 curators for our degree show, This New Feeling as a part of Central Saint Martins Degree Shows 2. This New Feeling was inspired by the emerging paradigm, Metamodernism and today’s generation of ‘nostalgic futurists’. The exhibition examined the way in which boundaries have become increasingly blurred between tradition and modernity in contemporary art practices. There were 3 core groups who made the exhibition programme an exciting and successful one. The exhibition team organised a week-long exhibition, including 14 artists such as Luke Turner. The online publication hosted interviews with the artists from the exhibition, as well as an array of multi-media articles engaging with themes proposed by Metamodernism. Whilst the events team organised a talk on What is Metamodernism? with Robin van den Akker, a leading cultural theorist on Metamodernism. The event served to contextualist the exhibition, publication and general concept driving the programme.
