To the Dragon Behind Glass Walls

The task was to design a stamp representing the traditional practices of Feng Shui active in Hong Kong's beliefs and culture; The stamp tells the story of a local lore born from one of Hong Kong's most distinctive architectural features: Dragon holes.

The story goes that a dragon lives on the mountains of Hong Kong flies down towards the ocean to drink water everyday. Therefore, buildings must provide a passageway for the dragon to pass through in order to avoid bad luck and fortune.
I liked the idea of Hong Kong’s reputation as a materialistic, money-driven city being underlined by superstitous spirtitual beliefs. I wanted to focus on translating the two important principles of Feng Shui (the flow of energy & the art of placement ) within the story.
